Some days, it's just not easy.
Tiffin University (4-1, 2-0 GLIAC) struggled through much of its match with Malone, collectively only hitting .119 as a team. But the team never gave up, digging down and turning their hitting woes into a strength in a powerhouse fifth set, beating Malone 25-23, 18-25, 25-22, 23-25, 15-10.
In the critical fifth set, the Dragons suddenly started to hit well, hitting .438 in the final set to put the Pioneers away. Ally Kohlhase led the Dragons with 14 kills, having a solid match with a .343 hittiing percentage. Lu Phillips and Olivia Cobb also had 10 kills apiece.
Chelsea Stockmeyer added 6 kills, while Jillian Campbell had 5 kills with 5 blocks. Tiffany Buchinger dished out 41 assists with 11 digs, while Tiffin's defense had four players reach double figures in digs. Taylor Lattiimore had 40 digs, Phillips had 13, and Sarah Haman also had 11.
Phillips also led the team with 4 aces. Malone hit .124 while also committing 15 service errors.
