TIFFIN, Ohio - Junior Ashton Khan and Sophomore Khaleal McCormick scored at least 19 points as the Tiffin University men's basketball team (8-14, 4-13 GLIAC) lost 81-75 to Malone (12-10, 10-8 GLIAC), Thursday night at the Gillmor Center.
The first six minutes of the game was on even terms. McCormick hit a short jumper in the paint to put Tiffin up 13-12 with 14:25 to go. Malone came back with a 12-1 run over the next five minutes. The Pioneers would lead by double figures the rest of the period.
In the second half, the Dragons could not gain ground over the first eight minutes. Christian Graves drained a 3-pointer from outside. MU led 58-38 at the 12:00 mark.
TU began to slowly cut away, scoring 10 unanswered points. Over the next 11 minutes, Tiffin went on a 30-15 run. A triple from McCormick made it 73-68 with 56 seconds to go. Free throws sealed the game for Malone.
For Tiffin, Khan had 22 points and was 7-of-10 from the floor with three triples while McCormick scored 19 points. Senior Mike Boan had nine points and senior Joe Graessle had nine points, nine rebounds, seven assists, three steals and blocked two shots.
For Malone, Graves had 19 points with five 3-pointers and Isiah Elliott had 16 points and six assists.
