Tiffin University Women's Basketball hosted Hillsdale in the GLIAC opener for both squads. The Dragons played Hillsdale tough for 40 minutes but eventually fell 66-61.
The first half was an even contest.The Chargers held a slim 1 point advantage, 31-30. Both teams committed 11 turnovers and shot near 40%. Hillsdale out rebounded the Dragons in the first half 21-19. Shelby Cheston contributed great minutes for Tiffin totaling 2 points and 3 rebounds. Bre Nauman led the Dragons in the first half with 7 total points. Jessica Farr chipped in 7 rebounds.
Half number 2 was more of the same. Hillsdale edged the Dragons in the scoring column by 4 to gain the 66-61 victory. The Chargers out rebounded Tiffin 39-38. The Dragons did have 4 more turnovers than Hillsdale to total 23 for the game. Cheston tallied 4 blocks in the game to go along with 7 rebounds and 2 points. Deidre McKay led Tiffin in scoring with 13 points. Kaylee Patton added 12 points for the Dragons. Farr finished with 9 rebounds and 5 points. Tiffin did an excellent job from the foul line going 17-21 for 81%.
Tiffin will be back in action Saturday at 1 pm when they host Saginaw Valley State. The Dragons fall to 0-5, 0-2 GLIAC. Hillsdale improves to 3-0, 1-0 GLIAC.
