The Tiffin University men's basketball team dropped a heartbreaker by the final score 49-47. The lead changed 7 times in the 2nd half, but the final lead change came on a Stedman Lowry step back three-pointer to put Hillsdale on top for good.
The Chargers were led by Stedman Lowry with 17 points, but the last three were the most important. Lowry's three with 5 seconds left was the final dagger. Kyle Cooper chipped in 11 points and 8 rebounds. Nick Archer was the last Charger in double figures, with 10 points. The Chargers trailed by four at the half after shooting only 25.9% from the field in the first half and only 9.1% from three. The second half was a different story, as Hillsdale shot 40.9% from the field and 37.5% from three. The Chargers improve to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in the GLIAC
The Dragons were led by Ashton Khan with 12 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists. Khaleal McCormick finished with 11 points and 6 rebounds. The Dragons shot 39.1% from the field in the first half and 28.6% from three. The second half saw the Dragons improve slightly with the Dragons shooting 42.1% from the field and 40% from three. The Dragons only committed 8 turnovers and defensively played outstanding, holding Hillsdale to 49 points, well below their season average of 81 points per game.
The Dragons fall to 3-3 overall and 0-1 in the GLIAC. The Dragons will be back in action on Saturday December 6 as they welcome in the Saginaw Valley State Cardinals.
