Tiffin University could find little that worked for them in their trip to Grand Valley State, as the Lakers rolled past the Dragons 42-7 on a cold night at Lubbers Stadium.
The Lakers shot out of the gates in a hurry, racking up 28 first half points en route to a 28-0 halftime lead. They totaled 14 points in the first and second quarter, keeping the Dragons offense off the field for most of the half while wearing down the TU defense.
Tiffin's lone score came with 10:18 left in the game, when Antonio Pipkin hit Pedro Correa on a 31 yard TD pass that made the score 42-7. Correa led TU with 48 yards receiving on 4 catches, while Jerry Brown was the team's leading rusher with 45 yards on 4 carries.
Pipkin finished with 140 yards through the air on 15 of 28 passing, while rushing for 43 yards on 13 carries.
Grand Valley State led 34-11 in first downs and 572-236 in total offense. They also held a huge 40:00 to 20:00 time of possession edge and converted 13 of their 15 third down attempts. Tiffin managed just 2 for 11 on third down.
Defensively Mike Covington and Jalen Randolph had 10 tackles apiece, while D.J. Stewart and Terry Harper had 9 tackles each. Carlton Watkins had 8 tackles and Tommy Pritchard added 7 stops.
