They say records are made to be broken.

For Tiffin University wide receiver Marcus Beaurem, setting a new career receptions record should be even sweeter as his team got in on the action, racing to a 53-13 victory over visiting Missouri Baptist to improve their record to 4-3.

Beaurem, who finished with 7 receptions for 128 yards including a 49 yard touchdown reception, now has 213 career receptions, breaking the record formerly held by Nate Washington (currently with the Tennessee Titans). It was also one of five TD tosses by quarterback Antonio Pipkin, who finished 19 for 29 for 288 yards with no interceptions while also rushing for 90 yards on 8 carries.

The Dragons' offense rolled all day, racking up 542 yards of offense, evenly distributed between rushing (260 yards, 8.7 yards per rush) and passing (282 yards). They also had 29 first downs to MBU's 16.

Tiffin scored first at the 9:58 mark of the opening quarter as Chris Watkins busted up the middle for a 2 yard score. After Justin Herrnstein forced a fumble on MBU's next possession, Pipkin rushed it in from the 1 yard line for another score. After Beaurem's long scoring reception, TU led 19-0 as the quarter came to a close.

After a 80 yard scoring drive by the Spartans, TU's Pedro Correa grabbed a 10 yard scoring pass and Oliver Cyprian rushed in another score from 12 yards out to make it 33-6 at halftime.

TU posted three more scores in the third quarter, as Patrick Boggs had a 1 yard TD run, Tony Shead caught a 29 yard pass for another score, and then followed it up with another TD reception covering 3 yards with 1:07 left in the third quarter.

Besides Pipkin's 90 yards rushing, Jordan Nobles came off the bench and totaled 82 yards on the ground, mostly in the fourth quarter. Shead finished with 63 yards receiving and 2 scores.

On defense, Carlton Watkins had 7 tackles with a blocked kick and a tackle for loss, while Herrnstein had 6 stops and a forced fumble. D.J. Stewart and Terry Harper posted 5 tackles each, while Kevin Lefeld had 4 tackles with 2 for loss and a sack with a forced fumble. Keith Butts also had 4 tackles with a fumble recovery.
