Free throws, bench lead to first GLIAC win

Tiffin University (4-7, 1-6 GLIAC) finally got their first conference win of the season, returning home to defeat Northwood 78-69 thanks to strong free throw shooting and a productive bench.

After trailing 34-31 at the half, the Dragons turned it all around in the second half. The Dragons clicked on nearly every phase of the game, improving their shooting percentage from 36 percent in the first half to 56 percent in the second half while holding the Timberwolves to 37 percent shooting after the intermission.

TU also used its aggressiveness to get to the foul line 27 times, sinking 24 of them. They also won the rebounding battle 41-33 while outscoring Northwood inside 26-14. TU's bench also enjoyed a 22-0 advantage over Northwood.

Tied at 44-44 with 12:01 to play, TU went on a 9-2 run that put them up by 7 points with 9:53 left. The Dragons held off a couple runs by the Timberwolves, and finished the game on an 8-3 run over the final 90 seconds to put the game away. TU went 8-for-8 from the line during that stretch.

Bre Nauman led the Dragons with 22 points and 9 rebounds, while Deidre McKay also had 17 points. Jillian Adams added 10 points with 5 rebounds while Kaylee Patton also had 8 points and 4 assists. Anya Misko also had 6 rebounds.
