Dragons Get Past Northwood In Dying Seconds

TIFFIN, Ohio - Senior Joe Graessle used his AT&T long distance plan in the last 11 seconds to push the Tiffin University men's basketball team (6-6, 2-5 GLIAC) past Northwood (8-7, 4-3GLIAC) 81-80, Thursday night at the Gillmor Center.

In the first half, the game went back and forth for the first 13 minutes. Then Tiffin went on a 12-3 run to lead by nine, 40-31 with 3:04 to go.

In the second half, the Dragons maintained the lead. Graessle hit a 3-pointer to make it 59-47, TU at the 15:31 mark.

Northwood refused to go quietly, reeling off a 17-4 run. Tony Johnson scored in traffic with 10:41 left. That gave the Timberwolves a 64-63 lead.

Down 80-75, Graessle converted a pass from junior Ashton Khan into a trey. That made it 80-78, NU with 55 seconds to go.

With 20 seconds left, Tiffin forced a turnover. Khan found Graessle, who hit the triple from 25 feet out with 11 seconds left. Northwood turned the ball over as time ran out.

For Tiffin, Graessle had 36 points, four steals and hit seven 3-pointers. He broke the career record for three's with 268. Sophomore Khaleal McCormick had 20 points and Khan had 11 points and five assists,

For Northwood, Wes Wilcox had 16 points and nine rebounds, Dylan Langkabel had 16 and Will Bowles scored 14 points.

Tiffin remains home, Saturday, Jan. 11, taking on #32 Lake Superior State. The game is scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m. Live stats will be available at http://livestats.prestosports.com/tiffin/
