TIFFIN, Ohio - Senior Jordan Jenkins had 24 digs as the Tiffin University volleyball team (5-3, 1-3 GLIAC) lost 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-21) to Hillsdale (5-7, 2-2 GLIAC), Saturday afternoon at the Gillmor Center.
In the opening set, the teams went back and forth until it was 10-10. Hillsdale put on a 9-6 run to lead 19-16.
Tiffin came back with five straight points. Consecutive kills form senior Sabine Stadler put the Dragons up 21-19. TU held a 22-20 lead before the Chargers scored five straight points to take the set.
In the second set, HC set the tone early with a 6-1 lead. Tiffin came back with an 8-3 burst. Junior Chelsea Stockmeyer spiked the ball off the block to make it 9-9.
Hillsdale shot out to a 17-13 lead. The Dragons recorded three straight kills to make it 17-16. The squads traded points until HC led 23-22. Hillsdale scored two straight points to end the set.
In the third set, the Chargers looked in control with a 16-9 lead. TU capped off an 8-3 run on an ace by sophomore Casey Volz. That made it 19-17. HC closed with a 6-3 run to end the match.
For Tiffin, senior Danielle McQuade and Stadler led the attack with eight kills. Junior Tiffany Buchinger had 33 assists. Jenkins had 24 digs, her 28th consecutive double-digit dig performance. Junior Lu Phillips had 14 digs and McQuade added 11 digs.
For Hillsdale, Lindsay Kostrzewa had 13 kills and Emily Wolfert had 10 kills.
