It is hard to win basketball games when only making 3 field goals in a half.
Unfortunately for Tiffin University (10-12, 7-11 GLIAC), that is what happened in the second half of its game at Malone, as the Dragons went 3 for 29 from the field after the intermission and eventually fell 55-44.The loss drops the Dragons two games behind Malone in the GLIAC South Division standings.
Tiffin led at the break 25-21, as both teams struggled from the field in the opening half. But the Pioneers opened the second half on a 15-7 run that catapulted them ahead of TU to stay.
Trailing 41-38 with just over 4:00 left, Malone put another run together, this time a 14-6 burst that put the victory away for them.
Overall Malone outshot TU 38 percent to 18 percent, with the Dragons shooting just 10 percent in the second half. They were also outrebounded 28-20 over the final 20 minutes. Malone held a 24-8 edge in scoring in the paint and also had a 17-5 bench advantage.
