TIFFIN, Ohio - Senior Jordan Jenkins and junior Chelsea Stockmeyer led the way as the Tiffin University volleyball team (12-13, 3-13 GLIAC) beat Lake Erie (1-24, 1-15 GLIAC) 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-20), Saturday afternoon at the Gillmor Center.
In the first set, Tiffin jumped out to a 20-11 lead. Lake Erie put on a 10-4 run to make it 24-21. Senior Sabine Stadler put the spike off the block to end the set.
In the second set, the Dragons once again got out to a 20-11 lead. The Storm put up a 9-4 run to make it 24-20. Freshman Olivia Cobb got the kill to finish off the set.
In the third set, TU had trouble putting away LE. Molly Richardson recorded a kill to give Lake Erie a 6-5 lead. Tiffin came back with a 10-4 run to lead 15-10.
The Storm came back with three straight points. A spike by Mary Walter made it 15-13. The Dragons went on 7-2 run to effectively end the match.
For Tiffin, Stockmeyer had 12 kills and hit .588 while Cobb had 10 kills. Junior Tiffany Buchinger had 35 assists, senior Danielle McQuade had 16 digs and junior Sarah Haman had three aces. Jenkins had 30 digs, her 45th consecutive double-digit dig match.
For Lake Erie, Jamie Hoppe had 13 digs and Walter had three service aces.
