TIFFIN, Ohio - Senior Jordan Jenkins broke a single-season GLIAC record as the Tiffin University volleyball team (14-13, 5-13 GLIAC) sent their seniors out with a win, 3-1 (25-12, 25-14, 24-26, 25-11) over Walsh (5-23, 2-16 GLIAC), Saturday morning at the Gillmor Center.
In the first set, the two teams went back and forth until Tiffin led 9-8. The Dragons scored six straight points to put the set away.
In the second set, TU took the early 9-7 lead. Walsh ripped off five straight points to take the lead at 12-10. Tiffin then ran over the Cavaliers closing on a 15-2 run.
In the third set, Tiffin looked to be in control with a 14-9 lead. WU kept chipping away until a kill by Paige Chandler tied the match at 20-20.
The teams traded points until junior Ally Kohlhase got a kill to make it 24-23. Walsh got a kill from Haley Howell and two from Krissy Sokol to give themselves the set.
In the fourth set, the Dragons opened with a 12-4 burst and never looked back.
For Tiffin, senior Danielle McQuade had 24 kills, 11 digs and hit .463 while freshman Olivia Cobb had 11 kills and senior Sabine Stadler had 10 kills. Junior Tiffany Buchinger had 56 assists and 12 digs. Senior Jordan Jenkins had 38 digs, her 47th consecutive double-digit dig match. It gave her 732 digs for the season, breaking the GLIAC record of 713 set by Allyson Riley of Grand Valley State in 2007.
For Walsh, Sokol had 13 kills, Chandler had 11 and Kelly Miller recorded 10.
