TIFFIN, Ohio - Freshman Olivia Cobb and senior Danielle McQuade had at least 15 kills each as the Tiffin University volleyball team (13-13, 4-13 GLIAC) beat Malone (12-17, 7-10 GLIAC) 3-0 (25-11, 25-15, 25-19, Friday night at the Gillmor Center. Malone had beaten the Dragons in four back on September 21.
In the first set, Tiffin hammered their way to a 6-0 lead. Malone fought back with a 7-3 run to trail, 9-7. The Dragons went on a 12-2 run to put it away. TU had 17 kills and no errors in 25 attempts as they hit .680.
In the second set, it went back and forth until 4-4. A block by McQuade and senior Sabine Stadler sparked an 8-1 run to secure the set.
In the third set, the Pioneers took the early 4-2 lead. The teams played on even terms with Lauren Townley getting a kill to make it 18-18. McQuade crushed the ball to start a 7-1 finish to end the match.
For Tiffin, McQuade had 17 kills, 13 digs and hit .533 while Cobb had 15 kills and hit .500. Junior Tiffany Buchinger had 40 assists and sophomore Casey Volz had 14 digs. Senior Jordan Jenkins had 30 digs, her 46th consecutive double-digit dig match.
For Malone, Taylor Slauterbeck had 10 kills and Katie Hasebein had 12 digs.
Tiffin closes the season at home, Saturday, Nov. 16, taking on Walsh. The match is scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m.
