FINDLAY, Ohio - Senior Jordan Jenkins had 21 digs as the Tiffin University volleyball team (11-10, 2-10 GLIAC) lost 3-2 (19-25, 25-15, 25-20, 22-25, 15-8) to Findlay (15-9 6-6 GLIAC), Friday night at Croy Gymnasium.
In the first set, Findlay took the early 10-6 lead. Tiffin came back with a 6-2 run. The Dragons tied the match at 12-12 on a solo block by junior Tiffany Buchinger.
A kill from Mackenzie Vorst put the Oilers down 18-17. TU scored five straight points to secure the set. Sophomore Casey Volz had three aces during this run.
In the second set, UF tried to put it away early with an 8-3 lead. Tiffin came back to close the gap to 9-7 on a block. Findlay went on a 7-3 run to put the set out of reach.
In the third set, the Dragons had command early with a 14-10 lead. The Oilers chipped away to make it 18-16 then scored six straight points to take charge.
In the fourth set, it was back and forth until it was 7-6. UF exploded for an 8-2 advantage and at 15-8, things looked bad for TU.
Tiffin refused to quit. Senior Danielle McQuade rifled a shot down the line to make it 19-18. Buchinger then served five straight points to pave the way to victory.
In the fifth set, McQuade picked up an ace that cut the Findlay lead to 8-7. The Oilers closed with a 7-1 run to end the match.
For Tiffin, McQuade had 16 kills and 10 digs and junior Chelsea Stockmeyer had 10 kills. Buchinger had 48 assists and four total blocks while Volz had three aces and 11 digs. Jenkins recorded her 41st consecutive double-digit dig performance.
For Findlay, Vorst had 15 kills and Danielle Taflinger had 14 kills.
