TIFFIN, Ohio - Junior Sarah Haman set an NCAA Division II school record as the Tiffin University volleyball team (8-9) rolled through Urbana (7-13) 3-0 (25-7, 25-15, 25-18), Tuesday night at the Gillmor Center.
In the opening set, Tiffin jumped out to a 9-3 lead and never looked back.
In the second set, Urbana refused to go away trailing 10-7. The Blue Knights closed the gap to 18-15 following a block by Kasia Walczak and Katlin Kremer. The Dragons scored seven straight points to end the set.
In the third set, UU got two kills to make it 4-2. TU went on a 9-4 run to lead 13-6. Urbana never got closer than six the rest of the way.
For Tiffin, Haman set the school NCAA DII record with eight service aces. She also tallied nine digs. Senior Danielle McQuade led the way with nine kills as the Dragons hit .350. Senior Jordan Jenkins had 24 digs, her 37th consecutive double-digit dig performance.
For Urbana, Kelsey Volkmer had eight kills and hit .316 while Anna McKenzie had 16 digs.
Tiffin hits the road to play in the GLIAC/GLVC Crossover, Oct. 25-26 in Aurora, Ill. The Dragons will take on Illinois-Springfield, Quincy and Drury.
