TIFFIN, Ohio - Junior Jordan Jenkins had 20 digs as the Tiffin University volleyball team (4-9, 0-7 GLIAC) lost 3-0 (25-16, 25-13, 25-20) to Grand Valley State (11-4, 4-3 GLIAC), Saturday afternoon at the Gillmor Center.
In the opening set, the two teams went back and forth until it was 5-5. Grand Valley State put up an 8-2 run to go up 13-7. Freshman Sabine Stadler had a kill and a solo block to spark three straight points.
Stadler's stuff on Abby Aiken closed it to 13-10. The Lakers then got six straight points to effectively end the set.
In the second set, GVSU took the early lead at 7-6. Senior Maggie Betz went cross court to drop it in, making it 7-6. Grand Valley State scored five straight points and was never headed.
In the third set, the squads traded points back and forth early on. At 12-10, the Lakers made an attempt to end the match with an 8-2 burst. That made it 20-12, GVSU.
Tiffin refused to quit and scored four straight points with junior Danielle McQuade getting a kill closing it to 20-16. That prompted a time out from Grand Valley State. Following the timeout, the Dragons forced an error and got a block from Stadler and McQuade. That made it 20-18.
The Lakers went back up 22-19. TU got spikes from Stadler and sophomore Molly Warren to make it 22-21. GVSU then rallied with three straight points to end the match.
Stadler finished the day with three total blocks. For Jenkins, it was her third straight 20+ dig performance.
For Grand Valley State, Betsy Ronda had 10 kills and 12 digs while Christina Canepa had 15 digs.
