HILLSDALE, Mich. - Junior Danielle McQuade had 18 kills as the Tiffin University volleyball team (4-6, 0-4 GLIAC) lost 3-1 (19-25, 25-19, 25-10, 25-14) to Hillsdale (4-8, 3-1 GLIAC), Saturday afternoon at the Jesse Philips Arena.
In the opening set, Tiffin came exploding out of the gates. The Dragons threw Hillsdale off guard, jumping out to an 11-5 lead. The Chargers could never get closer than four the rest of the way. TU hit .400 for the set.
In the second set, the two squads slugged it out early. McQuade crushed the ball to make it 3-3. HC went on a 15-7 run to put the set away.
In the third set, Hillsdale took the early 8-4 lead. Senior Maureen Kurtz had a kill and a Charger error closed the gap to 8-6. HC finished the set with a 17-4 run.
In the fourth set, Hillsdale jumped to a 9-2 lead and never looked back.
McQuade hit .294 while sophomore Tiffany Buchinger had 31 assists. Junior Jordan Jenkins led the team with 20 digs.
For Hillsdale, Caitlin Kopmeyer had 18 kills, Emily Wolfert had 12 and Lauren Grover added 11.
Tiffin remains on the road, Tuesday, Sept. 25 taking on Ohio Dominican. The match is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.
