Tiffin University battled back from an early 2-0 deficit, forcing overtime with seconds remaining before settling for a 3-3 tie after two overtimes at Slippery Rock.
The Dragons (1-0-1) allowed goals in the 6th and 15th minutes to fall behind 2-0 before Edison Benda got TU on the board in the 35th minute, taking a cross from Karl Jones and blasting the ball into the lower left corner from 20 yards out to bring TU to within 2-1 at the half.
The Rock expanded their lead to 3-1 with a 2 on 1 breakaway goal in the 50th minute, putting TU with their backs against the wall with 40 minutes to play.
The Dragons were far from dead, however, as they turned up the intensity and attacked hard over the final 30 minutes. TU nearly scored twice on disallowed goals in the 60th and 67 minutes before Cedric Bruce-Kotey took a pass from Benda on a 3 on 2 breakaway up the middle and made it 3-2 in the 75th minute.
Bruce-Kotey was not done. With just 45 seconds left on the clock, he took a rebound off a deflection on a long throw and sent the game to overtime with the score.
Both teams battled fatigue during the overtime periods, with TU getting two shots in the 107th minute. But the Rock's Clayton Master made the save to preserve the tie. TU outshot the Rock 3-2 in the two extra periods.
SRU outshot the Dragons 18-14 overall. Jeremy Ashley made 8 saves over 110 minutes while allowing 3 goals.
