NORTH CANTON, Ohio - Junior Danielle McQuade had 15 kills and 18 digs as the Tiffin University volleyball team (9-20, 2-16 GLIAC) lost 3-1 (23-25, 25-23, 25-14, 25-11) to Walsh (11-15, 8-10 GLIAC), Saturday afternoon at Alumni Arena. Tiffin has finished the 2012 season.
In the first set, the two squads went back-and-forth until it was 11-11. Walsh scored three straight points to lead 14-11. Tiffin went on a 9-2 run to lead 20-16.
The Cavaliers slowly chipped away at the lead. WU got a block to close the gap to 23-22. After trading points, sophomore Tiffany Buchinger put the ball away to give the Dragons the first set.
In the second set, TU made a run at 9-9. Two blocks keyed a four-point run to put Tiffin up 13-9. Walsh came back with four straight points.
From there, they traded points until 19-18. The Cavaliers moved ahead 23-20. The Dragons refused to quit, getting two blocks from freshman Sabine Stadler to make it 23-22. They traded points before WU got a kill from Paige Chandler to tie it up.
In the third set, Walsh opened with a 13-2 run that effectively ended the set.
In the fourth set, the Cavaliers got out to an early 8-2 lead. TU got a block, then kills from senior Maureen Kurtz and McQuade to make it 8-5. WU went on an 8-1 run to end the match.
Senior Maggie Betz and Kurtz had 10 kills each in their final appearances for the Dragons. Jenkins had 20 digs, her 20th double-digit performance in a row and 23rd of the season. Sophomore Rachel Reamer added 11 digs.
For Walsh, Julianne O'Donnell had 18 kills and 16 digs while Krissy Sokol added 17 kills. Emilee Muzechuk had 22 digs.
