TIFFIN, Ohio - Junior Jordan Jenkins had 28 digs as the Tiffin University volleyball team (8-15, 1-11 GLIAC) lost 3-1 (25-20, 27-25, 21-25, 25-19) to Findlay (9-14, 6-6 GLIAC), Friday night at the Gillmor Center.
In the first set, Tiffin raced out to a 4-1 lead. Findlay countered and tied it at 8-8 on a kill by Samantha Granger.
Tiffin came back with a 5-1 burst to go up 13-9. Junior Brooke Friesen slammed one home. That made it 17-17. The Oilers scored five straight points to effectively end the set.
In the second set, it was an all out war until it was 11-11. The Dragons went on a 10-6 run to lead 21-17. Findlay came back with a 4-1 run to close the gap to 22-21. TU went up 24-21 and the Oilers fought off three straight set points.
Junior Danielle McQuade went cross court to get the kill. That put Tiffin up 25-24. Findlay got two kills from Samantha Granger and an ace to end the set.
The third set was back and forth until it was 12-11, Oilers. Findlay then went on a 6-2 tear to lead 18-13. The Dragons battled back and took the lead at 21-20 on a tip by freshman Alex Miglin.
Findlay tied it back up at 21-21. TU forced two errors to move ahead 23-21. Kills from McQuade and senior Maureen Kurtz gave the set to Tiffin.
In the fourth set, the Oilers controlled the action early storming out to a 15-9 lead. Kurtz got a kill and a block and senior Maggie Betz had an ace. That made it 15-12. Findlay scored five straight points to take control.
McQuade had 15 kills while Kurtz added 12 kills. Sophomore Tiffany Buchinger had 40 assists. Junior Jordan Jenkins had 28 digs, her 14th straight double-digit dig match, 15th of the season.
For Findlay, Lindsy Reindel had 14 kills and Danielle Taflinger had 13 kills and hit .565. Amanda Calhoun had 51 assists, three aces and 12 digs. Becca Shoemaker paced the squad with 21 digs.
Tiffin remains home, Saturday, Oct. 27 taking on Wayne State. The match is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m. Live Stats will be available at http://livestats.prestosports.com/tiffin/
