Poor shooting costs Dragons in 71-67 loss

Box Score $website.include("options")

For once this season, the Dragons couldn't pull out the win in the closing seconds.

Tiffin University (15-5, 10-4 GLIAC) had three shots in the final 16 seconds to either lead or tie the game at Lake Superior State, but the shots would not fall, and the Lakers held on for a 71-67 upset.

The game was close from the outset, with the Lakers leading for most of the first half before TU sneaked into halftime with a 28-27 lead. TU managed a small run early in the second half that briefly gave them a seven point lead but it was shortlived as the Lakers bounced back.

Poor shooting all day cost the Dragons. The Lakers outshot TU 53-28 percent from the floor. Still, the Dragons almost escaped with the win. The Dragons held a two-point lead with 32 seconds left when a three pointer by the Lakers gave them the lead they would not relinquish.

TU held a big 50-37 rebounding advantage, including a massive 28-3 offensive rebounding margin. They also forced 17 turnovers while committing only 5. But the poor shooting was too much to overcome.

Mandy Jaeb led TU with 21 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists. Jessica Harris had 17 points with 11 rebounds while Jennifer Johnston also reached double figures with 16 points. Amanda Baute had 6 points and 10 rebounds.
