HILLSDALE, Mich. -Sophomore Danielle McQuade had eight kills and eight digs as the Tiffin University volleyball team (1-3 GLIAC, 1-8) fell 3-0 (25-16, 25-13, 25-18) to #11 Hillsdale (5-0 GLIAC, 8-1) Saturday afternoon at Jesse Philips Arena.
In the first set, Tiffin gave something for Hillsdale to think about. With kills and blocks, the Dragons stormed out to a 6-1 lead.
The Chargers stepped up and reeled off an 11-3 run to make it 12-9. Sophomore Jordan Jenkins smashed the ball right down the middle to make it 12-10. HC put up seven straight points to end the set.
In the second set, TU battled early, trailing 7-5. Hillsdale went on an 11-4 run to put the set out of reach.
In the third set, the Chargers came out to a 6-2 lead, threatening to blow it open. The Dragons gained some composure and pulled off a 9-5 run. A monster block from freshman Erin Turner and sophomore McKenzie Wright made it 11-11.
HC had a slight lead at 14-12 before scoring three straight points to take control. Hillsdale ended the game with an 8-6 run to claim the match.
For Tiffin, senior Lindsay Heller had six digs. She now has 1313 career digs, moving past Lori Welty (1993-95) for 12th place career.
For Hillsdale, Ashlee Crowder had 14 kills and 10 digs while Morgan Pdkul had 11 digs.
