FINDLAY, Ohio - Senior Travis Spahr had 15 points and 13 rebounds as the Tiffin University men's basketball team (4-7, 0-5 GLIAC) fell 84-65 to No. 19 Findlay (8-2, 3-1 GLIAC), Thursday night at Croy Gymnasium.
For the first 10 minutes, the two squads were locked in a tight battle. Spahr hit a driving lay-up at the 15:17 mark. That made it 8-7, Tiffin. Findlay went on a 10-2 run to lead 17-10 with 12:23 left.
The two squads traded buckets before senior Karl Finley hit a bucket to make it 19-14, Oilers with 10:00 to go. Findlay made a run at putting it away with 10 straight points to make it 29-14 with 6:49 to go.
The Dragons mounted up a charge. TU went on a 9-2 run over the next four minutes. Sophomore Joe Graessle hit three free throws to make it 31-23 at the 3:01 mark. The Oilers closed the half on an 11-3 run to effectively end the game.
For Tiffin, Finley had 15 points and Graessle added eight. Graessle saw his three-pointers made streak end at 36 games.
For Findlay, Greg Kahlig had 16 points, Kyle Caiola and Jack Smith scored 14 each and Aaron Robinson had 11 points.
Tiffin remains on the road, Saturday, Dec. 17 taking on Wayne State. The game is scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m.
