TIFFIN, Ohio - Sophomore Danielle McQuade had 14 kills and 11 digs as the Tiffin University volleyball team (5-16, 4-8 GLIAC) lost 3-0 (25-21, 25-9, 25-18) to #8 Hillsdale (19-2, 13-1 GLIAC), Saturday afternoon at the Gillmor Center.
In the first set, Tiffin got two quick kills from McQuade. That made it 2-1. The Dragons continued to battle with a spike from junior Maggie Betz making it 6-5, TU.
Hillsdale then went on a 14-9 run to make it 20-14. Tiffin refused to quit and put together a 4-1 spurt. Sophomore Jordan Jenkins dumped the ball over to make it 21-18.
Following a timeout, the Chargers scored two points to take charge. McQuade crushed the ball crosscourt to make it 24-21. HU got a kill from Lauren Grover to end the set.
In the second set, Hillsdale took the early 4-2 lead. The Dragons picked up kills from Betz and sophomore McKenzie Wright. That made it 4-4. The Chargers outscored TU 11-1 to put the set away.
In the third set, HU jumped out to an 8-4 lead. TU fought back with two kills and a block to make it 8-7. The teams traded points to make it 9-8. Hillsdale scored six straight points to effective end the match.
For Tiffin, McQuade had her ninth double-double of the season, fifth in a row while Jenkins had 11 digs. Senior Lindsay Heller had 16 digs, giving her 1504 in her career, ninth all-time in TU history.
For Hillsdale, Caitlin Kopmeyer had nine kills and 12 digs while Apryl Schmucker had four service aces.
