Dragons dominate rebounding, win 69-57

Tiffin University got back on the winning track in their return home, beating Lake Erie 69-57 to improve to 10-5, 5-4 in the GLIAC. Lake Erie falls to 2-11, 1-6.

The Dragons were paced by an overwhelming effort on the boards, where they outrebounded the Storm 51-33. The Dragons also made the most of Lake Erie's 14 turnovers, scoring 19 points off turnovers, while also holding a 21-11 edge off the bench.


The game remained relatively close until the final 6:30 of the first half when TU went on a 16-5 run to close out the half and take a 41-25 lead into the lockerroom. Karli Mast scored TU's first 9 points and finished the half with 13 points while teammate Mandy Jaeb was right behind with 11 points and 9 rebounds by halftime.

TU's dominance inside was evident from the start, as they held a 30-11 rebounding edge by the half, including 13-3 on the offensive glass. By the end of the game TU held a 24-9 advantage in offensive rebounds.

Tiffin's aggressive play inside also led to a 20-10 edge in fouls that led to a 19-5 scoring differential at the free throw line.

Mast finished with 21 points and 6 rebounds, while Jaeb (who was honored pregame for becoming the 14th player to crack 1000 career points for TU) settled for 14 points, 13 rebounds, and 3 assists.

Jessica Harris had 10 points and 8 rebounds, Mary Kate Campbell had 10 points, Amanda Baute added 9 rebounds, and Holly Focke had 4 rebounds, 3 steals, and 6 assists.
