Tiffin University's women's basketball team trailed by 21 against the visiting Saginaw Valley State Cardinals and it looked like the second half might go the same way as the Dragons trailed by 24 early in the second half. But the Dragons put together an unbelievable comeback to take a one point lead with just 1:29 remaining. TU couldn't hold on to the lead, however, dropping the contest 82-78.
The Cardinals hit a jumper with 17:18 remaining to give them a 24 point cushion 56-32. TU would chip away at the lead over the next 15, getting it to within four with 2:10 to play. The Dragons then got a pair of free throws by Stephanie Kelly to cut it to a two point ball game. Kelly then made a steal and hit a three point shot off a Mandy Jaeb pass to give the Dragons their first lead of the game with 1:29 left to play. TU couldn't hang on though as they watched SVSU score the last five points of the game.
Jaeb turned in another strong performance for the Dragons, finishing with 30 points, five assists, and six rebounds. Jessica Harris nearly had a double-double, finishing with 8 points and 12 rebounds while Jennifer Johnston chipped in with 14 points.
The loss drops TU to 6-17 overall and 3-15 in the GLIAC. They host Northwood Thursday.
