Tiffin University made history by winning its 5th straight game to open the season, beating Ferris State on the road 75-65 in their GLIAC opener to open 5-0 for the first time in school history.
Once again the Dragons used strong defense to jump out early on the Bulldogs. TU jumped out to a 13-4 lead to open the game, controlling the paint in the first 20 minutes by outscoring FSU 16-10, and heading into the halftime lockerroom with a 38-24 advantage.
Tiffin shot a blistering 60 percent from the floor in the first half while holding Ferris State to 37 percent shooting in the first 20 minutes. The Dragons didn't let up in the first 10 minutes after halftime, putting together a 20-14 run that ballooned their lead to 20 points.
Tiffin forced 21 turnovers while committing only 12 themselves while also holding a 13-6 edge in steals. TU scored 20 points off turnovers while also holding Ferris State to a 2-for-13 effort from three point land. The Dragons shot 48 percent overall.
Mandy Jaeb had a strong night, totaling 24 points on 10 of 14 shooting from the floor. Jessica Harris was also solid inside for 12 points and 6 rebounds, while Holly Focke had 8 points with 6 rebounds.
Karli Mast and Jillian Adams added 7 points apiece to give TU a balanced effort.
TU now travels to Grand Valley State to take on the 16th-ranked Lakers in their biggest test yet Saturday at 3 pm.
