Tiffin University got off on the wrong foot from the opening kickoff, eventually falling at Ashland 49-0 to fall to 1-5, 1-4 in the GLIAC. Ashland improves to 3-3, 2-3 in the GLIAC.
Tiffin fumbled the opening kickoff, turning the ball over to the Eagles who promptly ran it in from 8 yards out on their opening offensive play of the game to take a 7-0 lead.
On Ashland's next possession, a 44-yard pass completion made the score 14-0 at the 12:47 mark of the first quarter, putting the Dragons in a hole early. The Dragons' Jason Young tried to get the Dragons offense moving and back into the game, but an interception led to another Ashland score as TU fell behind 21-0 at the 10:24 mark.
Ashland capped their scoring in the 28-0 first quarter with a 69 yard TD run. They then added two more scores before the half, capping a 7 play, 87 yard drive with a 33 yard touchdown pass at 12:26 and made it 42-0 at halftime with another score after a 64 yard drive at the 6:22 mark of the second quarter.
Overall Ashland outgained TU 524-257, including 307-51 on the ground. TU had 3 turnovers, including 2 interceptions. The Dragons also converted just 1 of 10 third-down opportunities.
Trey Williams had a solid game offensively for TU, hauling in 5 passes for 116 yards while Nate Scully was the leading rusher with 23 yards on 6 carries. Young completed 10 of 18 passes for 136 yards with 2 interceptions.
Defensively AJ Brewer led with 10 tackles, followed by Mike Virgin with 9 and Kody David and DeJuan Graham with 7 each.
