Tiffin fails to keep pace with Panthers in 41-21 loss

Tiffin University could not keep pace with Ohio Dominican in their annual Homecoming game, falling behind 27-0 at halftime en route to a 41-21 loss that drops the Dragons to 1-7, 0-7 in the GLIAC. The Panthers are now 2-5 overall, 2-5 in the GLIAC.

ODU got on the board after their first possession and never let up. Jeremy Fudge ran it in from 13 yards out, capping an 8-play, 80-yard drive in just 3:22 to take a 7-0 lead. They scored quickly again on their next possession, driving 91 yards in 6 plays as Mike Noffsinger ran it home from 56 yards out to give ODU a 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

ODU's Chris Vortkamp hit a 36 yard field goal at the 14:12 mark of quarter number 2, and Noffsinger had another big TD run with a 62 yard run to make it 24-0. Vortkamp ended the half by drilling a 44 yard field goal as time expired.

Noffsinger continued his big day with a 74 yard TD reception from Jeremy Fudge just 23 seconds into the third quarter to make it 34-0. TU finally got on the board at the 7:55 mark of the third quarter when Brendton Williams caught a 10 yard pass from Jason Young, finishing an 11-play, 83 yard drive.


After ODU made it 41-7 after an 84 yard drive, Tiffin put two scores on the board. Trey Williams caught a 12 yard pass from Young after an 80 yard drive at 5:47 of the fourth quarter, and Nate Scully had a 10 yard TD catch from Young to close out the scoring at the 2:23 mark.

Overall ODU outgained TU 569-272, including 422 yards rushing. TU was outgained on the ground 422-55.

Young finished his day completing 22 of 35 passes for 217 yards and 3 touchdowns but also weathered 5 sacks and 2 interceptions. Brendton Williams was the leading receiver with 71 yards on 5 catches. Eight different Dragons caught passes. Craig Fairley was the leading rusher with 47 yards on 4 carries.

Defensively Sandro Jean-Baptiste had 9 tackles with 7 solo stops, while Mike Virgin had 8 tackles and 2 interceptions. Joseph Collard had 8 tackles including 2 for loss.
