Tiffin University's volleyball team took a set from GLIAC South preseason favorite Hillsdale, but couldn't keep pace with the Chargers falling 6-25, 26-24, 15-25, 13-25 at home. The Dragons started set number one on a good note when Brittany Teaford slammed a kill to give the Dragons a 1-0 lead. The Chargers went on a 9-0 run from that point and took the first set 25-6.

However, the Dragons rebounded and played strong in set two and outlasted the Chargers 26-24. TU looked to be well in control holding a 24-19 advantage, but after a Hillsdale time out the Chargers scored five straight points to tie it up at 24. TU took the next two points to win the set.

Hillsdale (8-1) then responded taking the next two sets for the victory. Brooke Bernabei had 11 kills for the Dragons, while Teaford contributed with 8. Jessica Adams recorded 23 assists to go along with 11 digs. Lindsay Heller added 14 digs.

Although the loss drops the Dragons to 1-8, Coach T.J. Shouse saw some things the Dragons can build off. "That's the first time we showed what we are capable of," he said of the Dragons' victory in match number two. "The big runs still hurt and we must minimize that. This is a new starting point and (next game) we'll have a chance the way we can." The Dragons will get that chance Tuesday when they travel to Ashland.
