Tate Newman enters his first season as a graduate assistant coach for the Tiffin University men’s soccer program in 2026.
Newman is a graduate of Tiffin University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Digital Media Design. A four-year starter for the Dragons, he appeared in 67 games and logged 4,892 minutes during his collegiate career.
Newman, a key contributor to one of the nation’s top defenses, played an important role during one of the most successful stretches in Tiffin University men’s soccer history. In 2025, the Dragons captured their fourth consecutive G-MAC regular-season championship and added the G-MAC Tournament title before advancing to the second round of the NCAA Division II National Tournament. Tiffin finished the season with a 13-2-5 overall record.
In 2024, Newman helped lead the Dragons to their third consecutive G-MAC regular-season championship and a historic run to the NCAA Division II National Tournament Sweet 16, marking the first appearance at that stage in program history. Tiffin finished the season with a 14-6-1 record and earned a No. 15 ranking in the final United Soccer Coaches national poll, the highest final ranking in program history.
In 2023, Newman and the Dragons captured both the G-MAC regular-season and tournament championships. Tiffin advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division II National Tournament and finished the season with a 14-3-3 overall record. The Dragons climbed as high as No. 22 in the United Soccer Coaches national rankings during the season.
In addition to his accomplishments on the field, Newman earned numerous academic honors throughout his career, including OCSA Academic All-Ohio, Tiffin University Academic Distinction for maintaining a GPA of 3.5 or higher, and College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors.
