Tiffin University (24-10, 14-2 G-MAC) posted a split with Thomas More, winning 15-1 in 5 innings before falling 6-5 in game two.
In the opener,
Ella Esterby got the win, allowing just 3 hits and one earned run over 5 innings. She fanned 3 while walking 2.
Tiffin scored in all but one inning. In the first,
McKenna Scott singled and then scored on
Tara Gall's double to left center.
TU scored six times in the third inning. After
Gwen McMenemy reached on an error and
Tori McPherson doubled,
Jessica Miller singled for one run. Gall got another run in on an error at shortstop, while
Molly Koesters doubled for another RBI. A sac fly from
Reagan Mengerink got another run, while
Macy Brazelton doubled to drive in two more runs.
In the fourth, Scott singled and McPherson doubled. Miller then hit another RBI single, and Koesters singled for another run.
Finally, in the fifth, Scott and McPherson singled and Miller walked to load the bases. Gall then singled for one run. After Koesters was hit by a pitch, Esterby singled for another RBI. Mengerink then singled to drive in two runs, and
Jadyn Bassi capped the scoring with another single.
In game two, the Dragons fell behind 5-0 before tallying 5 runs in the sixth to tie it.
Lexi Key started and allowed 5 runs (2 earned) on 6 hits over 2.2 innings. Esterby came on in relief, tossing 3.2 innings and allowing one earned run in taking the loss.
In the sixth, McPherson singled and Miller reached on an error. They both scored when Gall doubled to right center. Koesters and Esterby then singled, with Esterby getting the RBI. A single by Mengerink loaded the bases, with Brazelton gettin a run in via a sac fly. Scott singled to tie the game and put the go ahead run at third base, but a ground out to second base ended the threat.
In the bottom of the seventh, a Saints walk, sacrifice, and single ended the game and gave Thomas More the win.
