Dragons roll to 19-6 win at Virginia State

After falling behind 1-0, the Tiffin University women's lacrosse team (1-1) scored 11 unanswered goals to take a commanding lead and cruised to their first victory of the season, defeating Virginia State 19-6 on the road Thursday afternoon.  

Trailing 1-0, Lauren Walsh tied it and shortly after VSU committed a penalty with Lillian Graham taking advantage to put the Dragons up 2-1. Tiffin would cruise the rest of the way. 

Another goal by Graham made it 3-1 after the first period. TU erupted for eight goals in the second period, and the defense shut out the Trojans to take an 11-1 into the break. 

The Dragons took advantage of VSU penalties, scoring eight of their 19 with a numbers advantage on the field.  

Kenna Wigginton, Walsh, Graham, and Isabelle Vranjes each scored four goals. Dana Shehadeh scored two goals and Aryanna Rykard scored one.  

Walsh, Shehadeh, and Ashley Spangler each recorded two assists.  

Tiffin outshot Virginia State 39-22 and won the ground ball battle 11-8. 33 of the 39 shots landed on goal.  

Sarah Hart got the win in goal recording seven saves.
