Tiffin University women's lacrosse (0-1) opened the season with a 21-10 loss on Saturday to Davenport as the Panthers erupted for 11 goals in the final period.
The Dragons were ready to play as the scoring started with unassisted goals by Lauren Walsh and Dana Shehadeh. Kenna Wigginton added one another to make it 3-1 but the Panthers added two more before the end of the period to tie it up at three.
The Panthers outscored the Dragons 3-2 in the second period and led 6-5 at halftime. Tiffin got one goal each by Isabelle Vranjes and Aryanna Rykard.
Trailing 10-7 in the third, Walsh and Vranjes added one each to make it a one-goal game going into the fourth.
Davenport saved the best for last and scored six of their 11 goals with a field advantage to pull away for the win.
Walsh led the way in scoring with three goals. Wigginton, Rykard, and Vranjes each scored twice with Shehadeh finding the back of the net once.
Davenport had a 37-20 shot advantage and also won the ground ball battle 19-15.
The Panthers dominated at draw control, winning 26 of 34.
Sarah Hart took the loss in goal making 11 saves in 60 minutes.
