Game Recap: Baseball |

Dragons lose twice to Warriors on Saturday

Tiffin University baseball (0-6) suffered two more losses on Saturday, falling to Wayne State 16-5 and 9-4.

Game 1 (16-5):

A promising start quickly went awry in this one. Griff Cady, Dylan Ruhe, and Brayden Clark all reached base to start the game to load the bases with nobody out. Weston Thompson had an RBI groundout, Adam Deitschel had a sacrifice fly, and Jovanny Skrelja provided an RBI single.

The Warriors answered with two in their first at bat and the Dragons got those two back in the third as Deitschel and Luke Westerman each recorded RBI doubles.

That's when the tables turned in this one. Wayne State scored 14 unanswered runs including a 10-run third inning.

Mason Brunecz (0-1) was tagged with the loss throwing 0.1 innings allowing four runs on one hit with two walks.

Westerman and Deitschel had two hits each and Deitschel had two RBIs.

Game 2 (9-4):

Trailing 2-0 in the fourth, the Dragons tied it up as Skrelja scored on a passed ball and Thomspon scored on a sacrifice fly by Michael Patellis

With two outs in the fifth, TU hurler Billy Skripac gave up a back breaking grand slam as the Warriors seized momentum back to make it 6-2. WSU added another in the sixth and two more in the seventh.

The Dragons went down swinging but only managed two runs in their final at bat. A bases loaded walk by Skrelja scored Gavin Marceric and Brody Puchmajer scored on a fielder's choice by Thompson.

Skripac (0-1) was tagged with the loss after giving up the slam, throwing 0.2 innings allowing four runs on two hits with two walks and two strikeouts.

Cady, Skrelja, Deitschel, and Westerman had one hit each to account for the Dragons' four in the game.
