Dragons fall to Wayne State in series opener in Cincinnati

Played at UC Baseball Stadium in Cincinnati, Tiffin University baseball (0-4) opened their four-game neutral site series against Wayne State with an 11-1 loss on Friday afternoon.  

Wayne State recorded five runs across the first two innings off TU starter Johnathan Ray before the Dragons could record a base runner.  

An error by Julian Hernandez led to three unearned runs in the fourth inning to make it 8-0. The Warriors added another run in the fifth and two more in the eighth. 

Tiffin's lone run of the game in the seventh as Brock Polilli scored on an RBI triple by Weston Thompson.  

The Dragons were outhit 8-4 and committed two errors while Wayne State had zero. 

Ray got the start on the mound and moved to 0-2 throwing 3.2 innings allowing eight runs (five earned) to go along with four walks and two strikeouts. 

Andrew Baileys went 1.1 innings allowing one unearned run with two strikeouts. Luke Mager threw 2.0 scoreless innings with one strikeout in his collegiate debut. Bret Petrigac went 1.0 innings with one strikeout while allowing two runs.  

Gavin Marceric recorded two hits.
