The Tiffin University volleyball team (2-6, 0-2 G-MAC) ended their eight-game season-opening road trip Wednesday night with another straight set loss, falling at Cedarville (18-25, 22-25, 12-25).
The opening set started out with both teams trading mini runs. A kill by Kaylee Freund gave the Dragons an 8-7 lead and the Yellow Jackets then won eight of the next 11 to take a 15-11 lead. Kills by Maddie Daniel and Maggie Pavlansky brought the Dragons within four twice, but Cedarville closed out the set winning seven of the final 11 points.
In set two, Cedarville doubled up the Dragons 12-6 before TU went on a big run to take the lead. Tiffin took a 16-14 lead after winning 10 of 12 points. Fueling the run was Katelyn Owens, Freund, Daniel, and Olivia Karhoff. The Yellow Jacketrs won five straight to take the lead back and a kill by Jada Shade and service ace by Morgan Morley made it 20-20. However, the Dragons could not close it out dropping five of the finals seven points.
In set three, the Dragons could not overcome a slow start after falling behind 5-1. TU got within one, 8-7, and Cedarville opened it up winning 11 of 12 to lead 19-8.
Karhoff and Owens led the way offensively with eight kills each and Pavlanksy recorded 23 assists. Karhoff also led defensively with 11 digs.
