Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Dragons fall to Cedarville 86-70 in pivotal game

Tiffin University men's basketball (7-19, 5-13 G-MAC) dropped a pivotal game at home Tuesday night against Cedarville, falling 86-70. With tonight's loss, the Dragons are officially eliminated from a spot in the G-MAC Tournament as the Yellow Jackets have claimed the final conference tournament berth.

The Dragons had three offensive rebounds on their opening possession but couldn't convert and on Tiffin's next possession, Caleb Bates hit a jump shot for the first points of the game to give the Dragons a 2-0 lead. That was the only lead of the game for Tiffin as Cedarville knocked down a three on their next possession to take their first lead of the game and led the rest of the night.

Dekyre Fuller responded with a three of his own to tie the game at five, and Cedarville responded with seven straight points and overall went on a run of 11-2 to lead 16-7. Over the course of four minutes, Cedarville made eight straight baskets and overall went on a run of 23-7 to expand their lead to 39-18.

D'monyae Davis drove to the basket for a layup as time expired in the first half, but Tiffin trailed 50-33 at the break. Cedarville shot a ridiculous 67 percent in the first half (20-for-30) and made eight three-pointers compared to just four by the Dragons and Tiffin went 12-for-32 from the field in the first 20 minutes for 37.5 percent.

Cedarville came out firing in the second half and didn't cool off much at all. They shot 50 percent from the floor in the second half and the Dragons could get as close as only 15 in the game. Bates hit a jumper to make it 55-40, and the Yellow Jackets expanded their lead back to 22 with a 7-0 run.

Tiffin trailed by as many as 24 in the contest.

Fuller scored a team-high 20 points. KJ Pruitt and Bates finished with 11 and 10, respectively. Allen Fordham and DJ Gooden both had nine points. Gooden had four assists and John Muhammad grabbed 10 rebounds.
