Five Tiffin University wrestlers remained unbeaten heading into day two of the Midwest Classic, with six total grapplers moving on.
Anthony Aniciete (125 pounds),
Casey Barnett (157),
Nolan Gessler (165),
David Davis (184), and
Jake Powell (285) were all undefeated, while
Emilio Arellano (174) also moved on with three victories.
Aniciete got wins over Maryville 8-3 and Newberry 10-4, while Barnett picked up wins over Jamestown by pin in 39 seconds, Mount Olive 15-0, and Bridgeport by pin in 6:26.
Gessler was victorious over Wheeling by pin in 1:15, Kentucky Wesleyan by fall in 4:13, and Grand Valley State 4-0. Davis posted wins against Millersville 7-3 and Northern State in sudden victory 5-2, while Powell won over Coker 18-2, Quincy by pin in 38 seconds, and Findlay by fall in 2:57.
Arellano's three wins came against Wheeling 16-0, West Liberty 5-0, and UMary 5-1. His lone loss was to Ashland 9-3.
Also getting wins on the day were
Cael Woods at 133 (pin over Ashland in 3:15),
Bret Minnick at 141 (sudden victory 8-5 over Indianapolis, 4-2 over Quincy), and
Max Millin at 197 (13-3 over Thomas More, pin in 4:21 over Mount Olive).
