Tiffin University (1-1) had a strong shooting night, bouncing back from a slow start to defeat Illinois-Springfield 81-73 at Hillsdale.
The Dragons shot 40 percent in the opening quarter while falling behind 24-15. They bounced back strong in the second quarter, shooting 66 percent and winning the quarter 24-20 to trail at the half 44-39.
Tiffin's defense capitalized on UIS's 26 turnovers to the tune of 30 points. They shot 55 percent in the second half and held a huge free throw advantage 25-12. Overall Tiffin sank 25 of 40 free throws including 13 for 17 in the fourth quarter as they pulled away at the end.
TU also outscored UIS in the paint 34-24.
Hailey Unger led the Dragons with 23 points and 5 rebounds, while
Megan Campbell had 14 points with 7 assists.
Serenitee Johnson also reached double figures with 10 points.
Myka Richardson provided depth with 7 points and 6 rebounds while
Garyana Overton also had 7 points.Â
