The Tiffin University volleyball team (6-11, 1-7 G-MAC) kicked off homecoming weekend with a dominant home sweep against Lake Erie (25-12, 25-8, 25-10).
Friday night's win was the first conference win for the Dragons and TU only trailed once in the match.
In the opening set, a kill from Kaylee Freund gave Tiffin a 6-3 lead. Shortly after, Tiffin built a seven-point lead 13-6 following four attack errors by the Storm. Leading 19-12, the Dragons won the final six to take the opening set. Maddie Daniel had a kill and Lake Erie followed with five straight attack errors.
Lake Erie opened the second set with an ace and that was their only lead of the match. Tiffin won 11 of the next 13 points to lead 11-3. Seven of the points came via a kill. Leading 13-5, the Dragons won nine straight to take control and make it 22-5. Morgan Morley had two aces and Olivia Karhoff had two kills during the run. Another attack error by the Storm concluded the second set.
The Dragons got off to another fast start in the third set, jumping out to an 11-5 lead. Three straight Lake Erie attack errors made it 17-7, and the Dragons closed it out winning the final five points. In the final stretch, Freund had two kills and Maggie Pavlansky had one kill, and the match ended with Pavlansky and Freund recording an assisted block.
The Dragons finished with a season high hitting percentage of .456 and the team also recorded a season high 14 blocks.
Lake Erie had 34 attack errors while the Dragons only had 6.
Daniel and Karhoff led the way with seven kills each, and Morley had four service aces. Pavlasnky had 24 assists and Alyse Smith had four digs.
Katelyn Owens had six solo blocks and finished with 7.5 total blocks
