Tiffin University had four champions at the G-MAC Men's Wrestling Championships hosted by the University of Findlay.
Overall the Dragons were second of six teams, trailing champion Ashland 159.5 to 124. Lake Erie was third with 91 points. The Dragons posted four First Team selections along with three Second Team honors. First and second place finishers automatically earned First and Second Team honors for their performances.
Cael Woods was the 125 pound champ, posting a 15-0 win over Lake Erie and an injury default win over teammate
Anthony Aniciete. In the title bout, he won by 12-4 major decision over Ashland. For his standout performance, Woods was named the G-MAC Wrestler of the Meet.
Jakob Hurley was also named the Elite 26 recipient with the top GPA amongst competing wrestlers.
Max Shore also won the title at 133 pounds. After a bye, he dominated Ashland for a tech fall 21-5 win and then won the title with a 8-0 major decision over Findlay.
Casey Barnett was the 157 pound champion. He picked up a win by fall in 2:41 over Findlay and then beat Ashland by major decision 9-0. He picked up the title with a no contest decision over teammate
Gavin Owens, who finished second in the weight class.
Tiffin's final champion was at 197 pounds where
Lucas Salmon won. He pinned Thomas More in 2:45 and then posted a 14-1 major decision over Ashland to reach the championship. He then nipped Ashland 7-6 in a razor thin decision.
Owens had wins over Lake Erie by fall in 1:08 and Findlay 4-1 in taking second.
Emilio Arellano (165) also was second with wins over Findlay 9-6 and Ashland 6-4. He lost to Lake Erie 4-0 in the title bout. Tiffin's other second place finisher was
Jakob Hurley (174), who beat Ashland 5-2 and Lake Erie in sudden victory 6-3. He also lost a close title bout to Ashland 5-1.
Carson Steinmetz was 3rd at 174 pounds. He had wins over Davenport 8-6, Lake Erie by medical forfeit, and Davenport 8-6.
Taking 4th was
Christopher Oleksiak (141) with wins over teammate
Bryson Cole 8-2 and Ashland by medical forfeit.
David Davis (184) was 4th also with wins over Findlay 7-1 and Davenport 15-5, while
Jake Powell (285) was also 4th with wins over Lake Erie 13-3 and Thomas More by fall in 3:08.
Chase Dickerson (133) was 5th and had a win over Thomas More in sudden victory 10-7. Aniciete (125) also suffered an injury after a 20-6 win over Findlay and was forced to forfeit his remaining matches while placing 6th.
