Tiffin University fell in two duals on the final day of the NWCA National Duals, losing to Upper Iowa 30-13 and King 24-23.
The Dragons won three of the first five weight classes against Upper Iowa but could not keep up the pace.
Anthony Aniciete (125 pounds) won a close 5-1 decision while
Max Shore (133) followed wth an 11-3 win.
Casey Barnett (157) got Tiffin's last win of the dual with a pin in 3:45.
Tiffin lost four other bouts to Upper Iowa in narrow fashion.
Emilio Arellano (165) fell 6-3,
Jakob Hurley (174) lost 4-2,
Lucas Salmon (197) lost in overtime 9-6, and
Jake Powell (285) fell 5-4.
Against King, the dual was even closer. Aniciete opened with a big 19-2 tech fall victory, while
Cael Woods (133) also won big 13-3. After two King victories, Barnett won a close one 6-5.
King then won three matches in a row as Tiffin had its back to the wall. They responded with two wins in the last two weight classes. Salmon had a 19-0 tech fall shutout win and Powell got a fall in 1:21 to tie King. King's team score was adjusted by one point in a tiebreaker procedure.
