Tiffin University had numerous placers during a strong showing at the Midwest Classic in Indianapolis, Indiana, finishing 5th of 43 teams.
Leading Tiffin's five placers was
Nolan Gessler at 165 pounds. Gessler ripped off four straight wins to reach the title bout. He beat Wisconsin-Parkside 4-1, Central Oklahoma 7-4, pinned Lake Erie in 4:14, and outpointed Ashland 5-3. In the title match, he fell to Lander 9-3.
Max Shore (133) took third overall. He had big wins over Minot State 17-1, Newberry 16-0, and Gannon 12-2. After losing to Mary 7-4, he then beat Wisconsin-Parkside 9-1 and Ouachita Baptist by fall in 1:44.
Anthony Aniciete (125) finished fourth. He also opened with three wins, defeating Western Colorado 8-1, Lander 8-2, and Central Oklahoma 10-4. He had a sudden victory loss 4-1 to Central Missouri but bounced back for a narrow 4-2 win over Colorado Mesa. In the third place bout, he fell 4-2 to Central Oklahoma.
Lucas Salmon (197) was another placer, finishing 6th. He opened with wins over Gannon 4-0, Kutztown 3-1, and Pitt-Johnstown by medical forfeit. He lost 4-3 to Newberry, Ashland 14-5, and 19-3 to Wisconsin-Parkside to finish his day.
Jakob Hurley was the final placer, taking 8th. He had wins over Seton Hill 4-2, Southwest Minnesota State by injury default, Lander in sudden victory 4-1, and Maryville by medical forfeit.
