Trio of Dragons lead All G-MAC football selections

Tiffin University had three major award winners as the G-MAC announced its All-Conference honors for the 2024 football season.

Ronald Blackman was named Player of the Year, while Alex Johnson was named Offensive Player of the Year and Khris Walton was named Defensive Lineman of the Year.

Tiffin had a total of 11 selections including 7 First Team picks. They finished second in the conference and will compete in the Crossroads Bowl on Dec. 7 in Hobart, Indiana.

Blackman, a junior running back, is a First Team pick and is 3rd in NCAA D2 in rushing yards and 4th in yards per game. He led the G-MAC in rushing and scoring and was also named 2023 First Team All G-MAC.

Johnson, a junior quarterback, landed First Team honors and is 10th in NCAA D2 in passing yards, 8th in TD passes, and 13th in passing yds per game. He led the G-MAC in passing yds, yds per game, QB rating, and completion percentage.

Walton, a defensive lineman, was also a First Team pick. He leads NCAA D2 in total sacks and is 2nd in sacks per game. He also leads the G-MAC in sacks and tackles for loss.

Other First Team picks included defensive backs Chucky Lewis and Jacob Tueimeh, offensive lineman Mustafa Feika, and wide receiver Jalen Thomas.

Lewis had 27 total tackles with 2 interceptions. Last year he was named to the D2CCA Super Region 1 Second Team and named First Team All G-MAC. 

Tueimeh led the team with 62 tackles along with 3.5 tackles for loss. He also had an interception with 2 fumbles forced and recovered.

Feika anchored an offensive line that was second in the G-MAC in rushing.

Thomas is 11th in NCAA D2 in receiving yards and 12th in yds per game. He led the G-MAC in receptions, yards, receptions per game, and yards per game.

Tiffin also had four Second Team picks. These include linebackers Jalen Coles and Kenneth Byrd, offensive lineman Gauge Samson, and tight end Joey Zalewski.

Byrd was second on the team with 56 tackles along with 5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. He also had one forced fumble.

Coles finished with 38 tackles, 5 tackles for loss, and one sack and an interception. He also had 2 fumble recoveries and 5 pass breakups.

Samson was also part of an offensive line that was second in the G-MAC in rushing.

Zalewski was one of the top tight ends in the conference and finished in the Top 20 in receptions in the G-MAC.
