Tiffin University (ranked 12th nationally) dropped two duals at the NWCA National Duals in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
Tiffin opened with a tough match against 2nd-ranked Lander, falling 38-8. They then took on 22nd-ranked Glenville State and fell in a close bout 21-18.
Against Lander, two Dragons picked up wins.
Max Shore (133 pounds) had a big tech fall win 17-1, while
Lucas Salmon (184) also won a narrow contest 2-0.
The dual against Glenville State was a seesaw battle that came down to the final bout.
Anthony Aniciete (125) opened with a close 7-3 win while
Cael Woods (133) fell in the next bout 8-1.
Mason Amadio (141) fell 16-8 in TU's next match, but
Nolan Gessler (149) bounced back with a tight 4-2 victory. Glenville State then picked up two more wins, as TU's
Jacob Pail (157) fell 5-1 and
Gavin Owens (165) lost 8-6.
David Davis (174) picked up a pin victory in 5:20 before Salmon fell by tech fall 22-7.
Dean Hetrick (197) also got a win by fall in 4:24, but TU came up short in the day's final bout at 285 pounds as
Jake Noon lost a close one 5-2.
TU will now take on Newberry Jan. 6 at 9 am.
