The Tiffin University Women's Tennis team competed against Lewis University on Friday, coming off victorious 6-3. The win improves TU to 20-6, tying the season record for victories.
Doubles
1st doubles was an anomaly as TU's Nelhage/Kaye dropped a 2-8 decision to the 6th ranked doubles team Dora Andrejszki/Nora Mindiyarova. The Dragons played tough, but were ultimately outmatched in a one sided battle.
2nd doubles got back on track as TU's Mazzola/Musina were able to achieve success with their aggressive net play and constant offense to propel them to an 8-4 win.
3rd doubles was all Dragons as Avram/Harpaintner dispatched Lewis University quickly with an 8-3 decision.
Singles
1st singles was the talk of the day as TU's Nelhage won 6-2, 1-6, 10-8 despite loads of controversy. A debatable line call sparked confrontation amongst fans, coaches and players as the winning lob by Nelhage was initially called out. Eventually the call was reversed confirming Nelhage's victory.
2nd singles didn't go as planned as Mazzola fell in straight sets 0-6, 1-6.
3rd singles was a heartbreaker for the Dragons as Musina dropped a 2-6, 6-3, 9-11 match.
4th singles was where the Dragons picked back up as Harpaintner won a hard fought match that was back and forth all day. After a 6-4 first set victory Harpaintner never looked back, taking the second set 6-2 to win in straight sets.
5th singles was the dagger to end the match as TU's Avram gave the Dragons their final point to take the match. Avram won a 6-3, 6-3 decision.
6th singles was a much quicker match than the previous day for TU's Kaye as she won in straight sets in dominating fashion 6-0, 6-0.
