Tiffin University (14-1) achieved another first in their standout 2016-17 season, as the Lady Dragons women's tennis team have advanced to the GLIAC Championship match against Northwood University after a thrilling 5-4 decision against Grand Valley State in the GLIAC Semifinals. The Dragons have never made it this far in the tournament and will play against the team that handed them their only GLIAC loss on the season in the finals.

Things didn't look great for the Dragons from the start as the lone win for the Dragons in doubles was at 1st doubles where Nelhage and Kaye steamrolled through their opponents Madison Ballard/Rachel Sumner for a decisive 8-3 win. The Dragons dropped 2nd and 3rd doubles where Adel Musina/Emily Sim fell 2-8 to Aimee Moccia/Alexa Sweeney and Bianca Avram/Rachelmary Brozovich fell 3-8 to Abby Perkins/Livia Christman. TU would regroup and begin their comeback in singles.

TU found something to rally around and got fired up heading into singles play. Nelhage cruised to a 6-2, 6-3 win over Madison Ballard while Adel Musina found little resistance until the second set where she defeated Alexa Sweeney 6-1, 6-4. The freshman Emily Sim came through with a big win against Abby Perkins 6-3, 6-4. TU's two defeats came at 4th singles where Bianca Avram fell 3-6, 3-6 to Aimee Moccia and Rae Brozovich fell 2-6, 6-7 to Nicole Heiniger.

The finale of the match didn't look good for the Dragons as Aimee Kaye was up a set winning the first 6-1, but trailed 5-2 in the second set with the overall match score knotted at 4-4. Kaye flipped a switch on the changeover and rattled off 5 straight games to give the Dragons a 5-4 overall win in her 6-1, 7-5 comeback victory over Livia Christman.

The Dragons will take on Northwood on Sunday, the only team to beat the Dragons in the regular season when they played and fell 6-3 in the first match of the season for the Dragons. This will be the highest TU has finished regardless of the outcome of Sunday's match in all of their GLIAC Tournament appearances.
