The Tiffin University women's tennis team lost another heartbreaker to a top 25 ranked team for a second straight weekend in a 5-4 loss to #24 ranked Wayne State University.

TU was up 2-1 after doubles due to fantastic play from 1st and 3rd doubles as well as a very close defeat in 2nd doubles. Nelhage and Kaye of TU defeated Peisachovitz/Kuznetsova 9-8 with a tie breaker of (7-4).

3rd doubles was a great showing of how a team can rebound after tough matches when TU's Musina/Harpaintner won in dominating fashion 8-4. TU's lone loss came at 2nd doubles by a single break where Mazzola/Avram lost 6-8. Entering singles play TU was up 2-1 over the Warriors.

Singles play didn't quite go the Dragons' way as they lost 4 of the 6 singles matches, many by close margins. TU's victories came at 3rd and 6th singles where Musina and Kaye both won respectively. Musina won a close 6-2, 1-6, 6-4 match whereas Kaye defeated Ghellere 6-2, 6-4. Unfortunately for the Dragons that was the only wins they could muster as the other courts lost in close fashion. Nelhage lost at 1st singles to Mitrache 3-6, 2-6 while Mazzola lost each of her sets by a lone break losing 4-6, 4-6 to Poissant. Harpaintner lost a heartbreaker as well losing 6-7 (5-7), 4-6 to Kuznetsova of Wayne. Avram's match also went three sets where she was defeated 1-6, 6-3, 2-6 by Wayne State's Kamenko.

The Dragons drop to 2-2 in the GLIAC and 3-2 overall. TU will play their next matches at home on the 19th and 20th when they welcome Walsh and Ashland respectively.
