Dragons blast Pumas 9-0

Tiffin University (15-7) had little trouble in its match with St. Joseph's, winning 9-0.

1st Doubles

TU - Nelhage/ Beck vs. SJU - Hickey/Kost

Quick doubles wins have been key to the Dragons getting out to a solid lead. TU dominated their first doubles match 8-0 without much resistance from SJU's Hickey/Kost. The dominant doubles tandem won quick and moved onto singles.

2nd Doubles

TU -Schuster/Brozovich vs. SJU - Philips/Olson

Similar to their 1st Doubles teammates, the 2nd Doubles pairing of Schuster/Brozovich won 8-0 in a quick match that showed the dominance of the TU women's team. TU's women's team hit winner after winner at the net en route to a quick victory.

3rd Doubles

TU - Herald/Hayes vs. SJU - Huffine/Perez

First time pairing between Herald and Hayes proved to be a successful combination with an 8-6 victory over SJU's Huffine/Perez. With both teams competing in the Hilton Head heat, TU was able to be aggressive at the net while still playing patiently and winning the match.

1st Singles

TU - Caroline Nelhage vs. SJU - Tate Hickey

Dominance at 1st Singles is a common occurance for Nelhage and today was no difference. Nelhage won in a dominant match 6-0, 6-1 over SJU's Tate Hickey. Nelhage was able to hit drop shots and screaming forehand winners to show her offensive power over her opponent.

2nd Singles

TU - Valentina Mazzola vs. SJU - Clae Kost

TU's Mazzola was similar to Nelhage in her dominance of her opponent. Mazzola played the same style of drop shots and scraeming forehand winners to dispatch her opponent 6-0, 6-1. Mazzola was able to win quick and fast to secure another point for the Dragons.

3rd Singles

TU - Bianca Avram vs. SJU - Katie Philips

TU's Avram was fantastic on the court against SJU winning 6-0, 6-0 in amazing fashion. Avram was able to out rally her opponent on a consistent basis to give the Dragons yet another singles point.

4th Singles

TU - Caroline Harpaintner vs. SJU - Mary Huffine

After a bit of controversy that led to the Dragons' Harpaintner having to revert the score in a game, Harpaintner was able to be victorious in her match by a score of 6-1, 6-0. Harpaintner played aggressive ground stroke tennis to defeat Mary Huffine of SJU.

5th Singles

TU - Rachelmary Brozovich vs. SJU - Vanessa Olson

In the closest singles match of the day for TU's women's team Brozovich grinded out point after point en route to a successful 6-3, 6-2 victory. Brozovich was struggling early on until she found her groove late in the first set and carried this groove to the second set to win the match.

6th Singles

TU - Andrea Alaniz vs. SJU - Lauren Jakubezyk

In her spring singles debut, TU's Alaniz won her singles match 6-4, 6-1 in a match that started off incredibly close. Both players went back and forth until a single break of serve decided the first set and Alaniz rolled into the second set after that.
